The search for 27-year-old Danielle Jelinek will resume Thursday afternoon in Chisago County. Volunteers should meet at the Chisago City Community Center (10825 Lake Boulevard) at 1 p.m.
Thursday's effort will have better organization to direct volunteers to search areas. Buses will also be available for search parties. More than 100 people trudged through the snowy, hilly landscape Wednesday afternoon.
Jelinek, of Cottage Grove, was last seen Saturday afternoon in the area of Lofton Avenue and 261st Street in Chisago. Family members held a press conference on Wednesday to say it is very unusual for Jelinek to be out of contact, since she usually speaks with them every day. They also add that she suffers from asthma and needs to take her medication daily.
Jelinek works at the Wells Fargo in Maplewood and has been living with her sister and nephews in Oakdale. She had just submitted an offer on her first house last Friday.
Family members called Chisago County deputies to ask them to perform a welfare check when they didn't hear from her after a night out. Sheriff Rick Duncan says the investigation has centered around the home of an on-again, off-again friend.
Aaron Schnagl, who is currently jailed on unrelated drug charges, was the last person who reported seeing Jelinek. He is not considered a suspect at this time. Schnagl said he saw Jelinek at his house early Sunday morning after a night out in Minneapolis, but claims she left early in the morning. During a search of his home, police found Jelinek's shoes, cell phone purse and some marijuana.
Anyone with information on Danielle Jelinek's whereabouts is urged to call the Chisago County Sheriff's Office at 651-674-8848.
