Authorities said that Robert Love and an 8-year-old companion had just gotten off a school bus and were walking inside the Kensington Station apartments when Love was struck.
SkyFOX 5 showed a FedEx truck at the scene that police say may have been involved. Officers impounded the delivery struck so that investigators could take a closer look. Police questioned the FedEx driver but let him go.
Love's uncle, E. Harris, said that the death has been hard on his sister and the family.
"We are coming to grips with it as a family…it still hurts. We are just trying to make the arrangements for my nephew so he can go home and be with God," said E. Harris.
DeKalb Schools confirm that Robert Love was a kindergartner at Midway Elementary. His uncle says he was excited about starting school.
Robert's uncle asked the community to pray for the driver involved and his family.
"It's a tragedy what happened to him because he was just coming home from school doing the right thing," the uncle said.
