CHISAGO LAKE TOWNSHIP, Minn. (KMSP) -

A ground search is underway for 27-year-old Danielle Jelinek, a missing Cottage Grove woman who was last seen Saturday in Chisago Lake Township.

The search was suspended at 5 p.m., but it's not done. Nearby Moody Lake may be searched as a last resort.

Jelinek was last seen Saturday afternoon in the area of Lofton Avenue and 261st Street in Chisago. She is not believed to have her car or any of her personal items.

A ground search was organized by the Chisago County Sheriff's Office and emergency management in the area. More than 100 people showed up to search the snowy, hilly landscape Wednesday afternoon.

Nearly every step through 18 inches of snow was a struggle, but that's easy when compared to the agony of looking for a missing loved one.

Family members held a press conference on Wednesday to say it is very unusual for Jelinek to be out of contact, since she usually speaks with them every day. They also add that she suffers from asthma and needs to take her medication daily.

Jelinek's mother told FOX 9 News her daughter had a lot going on in her life, which makes it even more strange that she suddenly disappeared. Jelinek, who was living with her sister and nephews in Oakdale, had just put in an offer on her first house on Friday and worked at the Wells Fargo in Maplewood.

Family members called the Chisago County deputies to ask them to perform a welfare check when they didn't hear from her after a night out. Sheriff Rick Duncan says the investigation has centered around the home of an on-again, off-again friend.

Aaron Schnagl, who is currently jailed on unrelated drug charges, was the last person who reported seeing Jelinek. He is not considered a suspect at this time; however, investigators say he is not cooperating with them. Jelinek's family declined to talk about Schnagl with FOX 9 News.

Schnagl said he saw Jelinek in his home early Sunday morning after a night out in Minneapolis, but claims she left on foot early in the morning. During a search of his home, police found Jelinek's shoes, cell phone purse and some marijuana.

The marijuana is what sent him to the Chisago County Jail, but officials say Schnagl also has an outstanding warrant for a probation violation in Anoka County. Currently, investigators say there is no evidence the missing persons case is connected to the narcotics investigation.

Anyone with information on Danielle Jelinek's whereabouts is urged to call the Chisago County Sheriff's Office at 651-674-8848.
