Smoking doubles risk of sudden cardiac death in women

Posted: Updated:
CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -

Just one cigarette could harm a woman's health.

Canadian researchers say women are at a higher risk of dying suddenly from a heart attack if they smoke just one cigarette a day.

The researchers analyzed sudden cardiac death in more than 100,000 women and found smokers have twice the risk as non-smokers.

But researchers say after five years of not smoking, that can be reversed.
