CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
Recently, I sat down with actress Anne Hathaway in New York to talk about her role as Fantine in the much-anticipated, big screen version of "Les Miserables" - clearly the world's most successful, long-running musical.
Hathaway, already being touted as a likely best supporting actress nominee this year, explained how she tackled the very demanding role.
While chatting with Anne Hathaway about Fantine, the actress told me how great it is to portray the character - a role she watched her own mother play, many years ago.
She also delved into the themes of "Les Miserables," including issues of kindness to those less fortunate. She noted a contemporary example: The recent, widely-publicized, photo of the New York City Police officer giving a barefoot homeless man a pair of new boots in Manhattan's Times Square.
There is also lots of buzz over Tuesday night's opening of "The Book of Mormon" in Chicago.
The Tony-winning musical opens in previews at the Bank of America Theater this week, and the show is sold out through March.
The musical was created by Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the same team behind the raunchy cartoon "South Park."
They told me they're positive Chicago audiences will find the show hilarious - although they still have some jitters.
