Fatal accidents involving ATVs on the rise

PAYSON, Ariz. -

Off-highway vehicles, quads, three-wheelers -- a common site in the Arizona desert. They're fun, but are also proving to be increasingly dangerous.

The number of fatal accidents on OHVs is rising.

FOX 10's Anita Roman spoke to the Hartnells, an Arizona family who lost a son in one of these accidents.

14-year-old Kenny Hartnell was killed in October of 2007 during a hunting trip. The ATV he was driving flipped over, landing on top of his chest. It was the first time he operated the vehicle on his own.

Dad Ben says Kenny was only going 5 miles an hour.
