Dayton not rushing to redo Vikings stadium financing plan
ST. PAUL, Minn. (KMSP) -
Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton said Thursday he has no plans to reopen the Vikings stadium financing plan despite a slower than expected start to electronic pull-tabs.
Gambling expansion that put electronic pull-tabs in bars and restaurants is the main source of public financing for the $975 million stadium. But the state budget office released numbers on Wednesday showing pull-tab revenue has fallen short of projections.
Dayton said he's not worried because the gambling expansion is still in its early stages and should grow as electronic pull-tab suppliers get state approval.
The governor plans to meet next week with his revenue commissioner and the top gambling regulator to determine future steps.
