Gwinnett County held a candlelight vigil to remember the victims of violent crimes on Tuesday. The annual event by the Gwinnett County district attorney's office honors those killed as a result of homicide in Gwinnett County.
A bell chimed for each homicide victim who died in Gwinnett County in 2012.
Jacki Price was one of the pictures hanging on a remembrance tree. She was killed in 2010 by her estranged husband, according to her children. Price's daughters attended the event for the third straight year.
"The first Christmas without her, we came here and we've been coming ever since. It brings us some kind of comfort to be with other people who have experienced the same loss, have gone through the same tribulations of the court system," said Traci Mollenkopel, Price's daughter
Many families come back year after year.
Arlove Perkins-Lambert brought six of her children with her to celebrate the life of their big brother De'Andre.
"He wanted to be a music engineer and he was just struck down early," said Perkins-Lambert.
More than two years after her son's murder, Perkins-Lambert is still a regular visitor to the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center because the suspect in the crime still hasn't gone to trial.
"I think about him every day but the holidays especially and to be with other people that have endured the same thing that you have -- it helps," said Perkins-Lambert.
District attorney Danny Porter attended the vigil as a guest speaker.
