DCFS wants Maine West hazing investigation

DES PLAINES, Ill. (FOX Chicago News) -

The Department of Child and Family Services is asking Cook County prosecutors to investigate the hazing allegations at Maine West High School.

Officials want to know if school employees knew of the alleged abuse as early as 2007.

They said it would be a violation of the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act.

A lawsuit against the Des Plaines school said teammates physically and sexually assaulted athletes in hazing rituals.

The lawsuit said some coaches knew about it, but didn't stop it.
