A new billboard is asking the public for information into the 1974 killing of a SUNY co-ed from Long Island.

The billboard, on Route 7 west of exit 22 of Interstate 88, highlights the ongoing investigation into the unsolved homicide of Kathleen Kolodziej.

On November 2, 1974, Kolodziej, a SUNY Cobleskill student, was reported missing by her mother.

Kolodziej had gone to a bar with her roommate the night before but left with someone else.  She never returned.

Hunters discovered her shoe 26 days later, Thanksgiving morning, off of MacDonald and Cross Hill Roads in the Town of Richmondville in Schoharie County.

Police conducted a search and found her partially clothed body on a stone wall.  She had died of several stab wounds.

The State Police have been working with New York State Crime Stoppers for years on the case.

Billboard owner Roger J. Mallory, donated use of the billboard free of charge.  It displays a picture of Kolodziej and the Crime Stoppers number 1-866-313-8477.  Crime Stoppers is offering a $2,500 reward in the case.

Kolodziej, an only child from Ronkonkoma, was 17 at the time of her murder.
