On Monday, a judge granted the Stearns County prosecutor's request for a 24-hour extension to hold Ryan Michael Larson, the man suspected in the fatal shooting of Cold Spring Police Officer Tom Decker.
Decker and his partner were checking on a man reported to be suicidal on Thursday when Decker was shot multiple times. Authorities have described the shooting as an ambush.
Larson, 34, will remain in the Stearns County Jail for at least one more day while prosecutors continue to review the case.
The request was approved by Judge Vicki Landwehr.
Authorities continue to search for the 20-gauge shot gun used in the shooting and are asking residents to check their property. Anyone who finds the weapon is urged to leave it untouched and call 911 immediately.
Larson was arrested about an hour after the shooting inside his apartment, just upstairs from the shooting scene.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Decker, a husband and father of four, had been with the Cold Spring Police Department for six years. His funeral will be held on Wednesday in Collegeville.
