A Gwinnett County family is hoping to spread Christmas cheer by donating hundreds of gifts to sick children, but the toy drive is also about sending a message of hope to patients and parents.
One really can't imagine what it is like spending weeks and even months in the hospital until you have actually been there. The Parker family knows first had how difficult the "hospital holidays" can be and they want to make a different for metro Atlanta Children hospitalized this time of year.
Four-year-old Holden Parker is psyched for Santa. Not for himself, but for other children he is trying to help.
The big-hearted young boy spent the first two years of his life at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston. He had a heart and lung problem as well as a life-threatening vein disease, but today Holden is healthy.
The family feels they were given a second chance and so again this Christmas, they will return to the hospital where they spent so many holidays and deliver toys along with the message of hope.
The Parkers want to brighten up Christmas for children who would be happy just being home for the holidays. They want to collect enough toys to deliver to patients not only Egleston, but Children's Healthcare of Atlanta at Scottish Rite.
