St. Paul police have made an arrest in the sexual assault of a St. Catherine University student near Riverside Park after receiving a report of a suspicious man approaching women in a hospital parking lot.
Minneapolis police responded to West River Parkway and 27th Avenue on Nov. 19 to a report that a woman was attacked and sexually assaulted while walking to the St. Kate's campus.
On Tuesday, security officers at Regions Hospital in St. Paul received complaints about a suspicious man approaching women by the parking area, and he was detained by Ramsey County deputies.
One of those deputies had seen the composite sketch of the suspect in the Minneapolis assault and thought the man bore a striking resemblance. He was booked into jail on an unrelated warrant and is was taken to the Ramsey County Jail.
Authorities notified the Minneapolis Police Department's Sex Crimes Unit and Sgt. David Mattson interviewed 48-year-old Louis Richard Oliver, also known as Terry Woods. Following that interview, Oliver was moved to the Hennepin County Jail and booked on a charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.
Police have not yet released a mug shot of Oliver.
