Metro Transit has its three billionth customer. St. Louis Park's Nadine Babu was selected and awarded a year of rides on buses and trains during a ceremony Thursday morning.
Metro Transit invited customers to submit entries in an essay contest. Judges say Babu, a light rail and bus rider wrote the best entry.
In a release sent by Metro Transit, Babu's submission read, "I ride the bus for so many reasons - it's safe, reliable, inexpensive, convenient, and you can text, e-mail, Facebook, Twitter, etc. and ride without any consequences…You have a customer for life in me!"
According to Metro Transit, customers boarded buses and trains 81 million times last year.
