Is Titus Young's Lions career Trash??

Posted: Updated:

We'll begin with a question, is Lions receiver Titus Young's tenure in Detroit in jeopardy??  Some say yes, others say no-- and I think that I'm in the latter category. Young found himself in the doghouse after repeated mistakes lining up for plays during the Green Bay game.  That put him in the coaches cross hairs and it's keeping him out of the lineup so far this week, but let's give Young some credit because he's doing whatever he needs to do to correct the situation and today at Allen Park that also included picking up trash.  That's right, picking up trash!!  I saw Young with my own eyes circling the edge of the practice field after practice, bending down every so often to pick up items that he then stuffed in the pocket of his Lions hoodie.  Young then emptied the contents of that roomy front pocket into a trash can.  The observation brings many different things to mind, and had me formulating possible scenarios that would explain the action, but the only thing that I can come up with is that this "trashing" is one of the benchmarks set by the team for Young to accomplish before he can get back on the field.

Is this a page out of the juvenile behavior book?? Perhaps, but maybe this is a punishment that fits the "crime"... also, let's not forget that sometimes teams have "Kangaroo Courts" presided over by fellow teammates, and maybe this "trash" option was the verdict from that.  No one knows for sure, until Young talks to the media on Friday-- but the bottom line is, that while the visual was amusing and has created some good natured ribbing in the media, the problem underneath is the thing that needs to be eliminated-- and I am on the side that hopes it will be-- so that Young can get back on the field and do what this team selected him to do-- catch footballs and help the Lions win games.
