Evidently we've got our temperatures mixed up as we gauge the Timberwolves. In our promo that is running for Friday night's game against Milwaukee, the voice over guy says "the Wolves look to stay hot". Say what? There is nothing hotter than a five game losing streak. Maybe they know something we don't and the squad will be on a two game winning streak by then making everything okay.
Since Kevin Love returned to the lineup, the defense has allowed 100+ points in two of the three games. While love was out, only Toronto hit the century mark in the seven games without him. Remember the magic number of 12-8 through 20 games? Well to get there, the team needs to run 7-1 in their next eight games including five of them on the road. After starting 5-2 and having most fans believing in what they were seeing without Love and Ricky Rubio, the future looked bright.
Just as quickly as they started, they have fallen and will most likely pick right back up. It is life in the NBA.
Rick Adelman put it best following their last home loss against Denver. When you get a piece as big as Love back, it takes some time to figure out how to play together again.
The noise surrounding Rubio's return is progressively getting louder especially on the heels of the teams current losing streak. During those games opposing guards have torched the Wolves for 189 combined points, an average of 21 points per player.
With two games left on the current road trip, the Wolves face Sacramento for the second time this season tomorrow, then play the Clippers Wednesday before returning home.
