Police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 64-year-old Gwinnett County woman.
Cpl. Jake Smith of Gwinnett County Police Department told FOX 5 News that officers responded to the 1400 block of Alamein Drive near Lawrenceville around 10:45 a.m. Wednesday after neighbors reported seeing suspicious activity.
"They had noticed, I believe it was the day prior, some suspicious activity. And the day they called, they noticed the garage door was up and her vehicle was missing, which was out of character for the victim," Smith said.
Inside, authorities found the body of Parviz Moledina. Investigators believe she died from apparent stab wounds. Moledina's vehicle, a silver 2007 Volvo station wagon, was found at Sugarloaf Mills Mall.
Smith said that a patrolling officer had seen two men driving the car. He was unable to get a good description of the men. After confirming that the vehicle he had seen was Moledina's, police returned to the car but the men were gone.
Police set up surveillance on the car and a nearby mall, but did not capture any footage of suspects.
Neighbors told police that the victim lived alone and they are not sure why anyone would want to hurt her. Police have asked neighbors to be on alert as a precaution while they continue to investigate.
Anyone with information on Parviz Moledina's murder should call the Gwinnett County Police Department Homicide Unit at 770-513-5300.
