Guy Fieri, the star of Food Network's popular Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, isn't too happy about a scathing New York Times review of his new restaurant.
America's 10th highest paid chef appeared on the Today show Thursday to defend his new venture -- Guy's American Bar and Grill – which opened in September in Times Square. He used the face time to respond to New York Times critic Pete Wells after the writer went on a rampage against Fieri's restaurant.
"Hey, did you try that blue drink, the one that glows like nuclear waste?" Wells wrote. "Any idea why it tastes like some combination of radiator fluid and formaldehyde?"
Wells goes on…
"When you cruise around the country for your show Diners, Drive-ins and Dives, rasping out slangy odes to the unfancy places where Americans like to get down and greasy, do you really mean it? Or is it all an act?"
Fieri says Wells went too far, and suspects Wells "came in with another agenda" to "make a name" for himself.
