Get Up and Go: Art at the Rock

EATONTON, Ga. -

Get Up and Go is heading about an hour east of Atlanta to a site on the National Register of Historic Places. The Native American stone effigy called Rock Eagle is believed to be about 2,000 years old.

The effigy is located at the 4-H Center near Eatonton. It is so large that the only way to really get a good look at it is to climb a nearby observation tower.

While you can check it out almost anytime, this weekend there is an added attraction -- Art at the Rock.

Seventy artists will be showing and selling their work and all proceeds benefit 4-H programs throughout Georgia. Entertainment will be provided by Georgia 4-H performing arts groups on Saturday.

Sunday lunch will be fried chicken and ham with plenty of sides. The lunch is $12.50 for adults and $6 for kids.

There is no admission for Art at the Rock, and there is plenty of free parking too.
