FOX 9 News is investigating reports that a 16-year-old girl taking summer school classes at Harding High School was struck and killed by an SUV as she waited for the school bus.
The man charged with hitting and killing a teenager as she sat waiting for a school bus in St. Paul has been convicted.
Carlos Viveros-Colorado struck 16-year-old Clarise Grime and injured her 17-year-old boyfriend last July.
Investigators found Viveros-Colorado had been speeding at the time of the crash. In court, he claimed he had numbness in his leg and accidentally accelerated.
The judge, however, did not agree with the assessment that the crash caused by accidental acceleration, describing it instead as a serious mistake in judgment.
Viveros-Colorado had rejected a plea deal that would have lowered his sentence on the most serious charge, criminal vehicular homicide. He was also charged with criminal vehicular operation for injuring the other teen.
