Man's body found in car after accidental fall in Cottage Grove

Police in Cottage Grove closed down the area around the 8800 block of Hamlet Avenue on Monday after a man's body was found in a parked car.

Officers were called shortly before 4:30 p.m., and the caller told them the man was obviously dead.

When police arrived, the man was pronounced dead immediately and was not transported.

Officials say the preliminary investigations indicate the man died from an accidental fall. He made it to his vehicle and was later found by family members.

Officials have not released any additional details about the fall or where it occurred. They are also withholding the victim's identity pending notification of next of kin.
