Toys for Tots seeks toys, volunteers

Posted: Updated:
ATLANTA -

Toys for Tots organizers expect demand for the program to be strong this year. Last year, the organization was unable to fill all its orders

Publix stores around Georgia will set out the Toys for Tots boxes on the day after Thanksgiving.  Shoppers can drop off toys in those boxes.

"We need as many toys as people can give. Last year we distributed 723,000. Will our need be that this year? Absolutely," said Teresa Wilhite of Toys for Tots.

The group can accept cash donations as well.

Toys for Tots also needs dozens of volunteers to sort through the toys and get them ready to be distributed.

Individuals that would like to request gifts through the group can call United Way by dialing 211, Wilhite said. They will be then referred to the nearest agency that distributes toys.
