A mere 24 hours after he sent Target Center into euphoria, Chase Budinger was in Timberolves locker room on crutches. Budinger who played much of the second half for Brandon Roy who didn't return to the second half of Friday night's win over Indiana, started again for Roy as the Wolves traveled to Chicago to battle the Bulls.
Budinger and the Wolves were battered in the fourth quarter as Chicago handed the team their second loss of the season 87-80. Budinger meanwhile needed x-rays on his left knee after he twisted it in the fourth quarter.
The injuries are beginning to mount for the team, and the schedule isn't going to slow down or give them any favors.
The teams traded runs and leads with center Nikola Pekovic and Dante Cunningham leading the way with 18 points. Andrei Kirilenko neared a triple-double with 11 points, 12 rebounds and seven assists.
Nate Robinson led the Bulls with 18 points while Joakim Noah added 17.
Budinger's injury is listed as a twisted knee according to the team and while they wait for a more detailed MRI report, the depth of this team is being tested early.
The team fell to 4-2 on the young season and travel to Dallas for a Monday night contest before heading back home for games against Charlotte and Golden State Wednesday and Friday.
