Shots fired, man found dead in south Minneapolis alley

A man was found dead in a south Minneapolis alley shortly after a report of shots fired in the Ventura Village neighborhood early Wednesday morning.

Officers were called to the 2100 block of 10th Ave. S. just before 3 a.m. When officers arrived they found the body of a man in the alley between 10th and 11th Avenues. The victim had suffered apparent gunshot wounds.

The Minneapolis Police Department's homicide unit is working on this case and no one is in custody. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the TIPS Line at 612-692-TIPS (8477).

The identity of the victim will be released by the Hennepin County medical examiner's office.
