MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -
Three U.S. representatives from Minnesota easily retained their congressional seats Tuesday night.
Democrat Keith Ellison beat Republican challenger Chris Fields in the 5th District, which includes Minneapolis, for a fourth term.
Democrat Betty McCollum won a seventh term in the 4th District, beating Republican Tony Hernandez and Independence Party candidate Steve Carlson. The 4th District includes St. Paul and the eastern suburbs.
Republican Erik Paulsen beat Democrat Brian Barnes to win a third term in the 3rd District, which includes the western suburbs of Minneapolis.
Republicans will retain control of the U.S. House, FOX News projected. Democrats fell short of their goal of picking up 25 seats, which would have given them control of the 435-member House of Representatives.
