Graves: ‘Today’s the real poll’ in 6th District race

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. (KMSP) -

Michele Bachmann is running for her fourth term in Congress. Her district is a bit realigned this year, losing her hometown of Stillwater, Minn. but gaining a large chunk of very conservative Carver County.

On paper, the 6th District race has competitive potential because Bachmann's opponent, Jim Graves, is an established businessman who tends to be more moderate in his views. Bachmann has spent nearly $20 million dollars to fend him off -- an unbelievable amount of money for a congressional seat.

Bachmann is expected to be at the Republican election party headquarters in Bloomington, but if the past is any indication she and her husband Marcus will not come out and address her supporters until after she knows the majority of the votes are in.

The last polls had Bachmann leading between five and ten percent over Graves, but he hasn't been losing sleep over poll numbers.

"At this stage in the game you've just got to let it play out," Graves said. "Today's the real poll that counts – at the election booth."
