MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -
Waterville-Elysian-Morristown High School played their Saturday night playoff football game in honor of one of their players after the teen was found dead after his boat capsized on Lake Elysian.
Five hunters were out on Lake Elysian for an early Saturday morning duck hunt when their boat capsized. The Waseca County Sheriff's Office said others in the area heard the shouts for help, and the police were notified at 6:10 a.m.
Four of the individuals were picked up by other duck hunters, but Brady Hruska was reported missing when responders arrived.
With the help of many surrounding law enforcement agencies, Hruska's body was pulled from the water around 2 p.m., officials said.
Students and parents were encouraged to meet at the Waterville-Elysian-Morristown High School on Saturday after the death was confirmed.
"We asked the students to make the decision about playing in [Saturday]'s game," Principal John Kaplan said. "They were all in agreement that we should play."
A moment of silence was observed before the game, and Huskra's father walked his son's jersey out onto the field.
