CHICAGO (FOX 32 News) -
It's no surprise that weather influences our mood, our behavior and how well we are able to accomplish tasks. Then it may come as little surprise that weather also influences the way that we talk on the phone.
Research from New Castle University from Dr Phithakkitnukoon (we will just call him Dr "P") suggests that during times of "bad" weather, who we call and how long we talk changes dramatically.
Dr "P's" research showed that during weather events, we tend to Isolate ourselves from our larger network, and make fewer calls. The calls that we do make however are to close friends and family, and those calls tend to be longer.
"Close friends and family" was found not to be just the people we love most, but often times people who are physically close to use, say perhaps within 10 miles.
Over one million calls were analyzed in the study. So, the next time that you "reach out and touch" someone, it may be partially motivated by the weather!

Just think, the shells from the clams used to make your clam chowder may have been used to help scientists learn more about how the climate has changed over the past millennium.

The Weather Channel has announced that they are going to start "Naming" winter storms. At first you may ask, "they name hurricanes, why not all storms?"

These are some of my favorite clouds. No, they are not "special effects" from the latest Spielberg movie, and no, they are not real U.F.O.'s - although they are often mistaken for them!

While man made global warming may be still a topic for hot debate, it's hard to argue, that whatever the cause, there is change transpiring in our atmosphere and environment.
