DETROIT -- Our beloved Tigers are in the World Series and Detroit is hungry for a ring.  Tigers' gear is flying off the shelves.  Everybody is wearing the Old English D except for the Spirit of Detroit.

Plenty of fans have noticed, including the self-proclaimed biggest fan Detroit Council President Charles Pugh.

"I was wondering where has the jersey been because usually we get it to the Spirit when we head into the American League Championship Series," he said.

So what's up?  Detroit's ambassador had plenty of team spirit when the Tigers went to the World Series in 2006.

We did a little digging.  Turns out the Spirit of Detroit may be a little tardy for the party, but he won't miss it.  The Building Authority tells us the Tigers organization is giving the Spirit of Detroit a brand new jersey.  Workers will put it on early Wednesday morning just in time for Game 1 of the World Series.  It will cost the Tigers about $8,000, including the cost of insurance and additional security.

Bottom line, it's time to celebrate and the Spirit of Detroit will be there every step of the way.
