MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -
With no marriage amendment supporters accepting his offer to debate, Minnesota Vikings punter and "Vote No" advocate Chris Kluwe will debate an empty chair.
The chair won't be truly empty, but certainly void of an opposing argument. Actors from the Brave New Workshop improv troupe will fill the chair across from Kluwe and read statements that have been made in support of the Minnesota marriage amendment.
KQRS radio host Tom Barnard will moderate the "debate."
"The organizers promise a bipartisan event, with no official political presence other than the two debaters (or stand-ins) at the podium," said a release from Brave New Workshop. "Organizers intend to host a healthy and respectful dialog, as well as have fun in the process."
The invitation list, posted on Facebook, was closed Thursday. Organizers will pick 40 people to attend.
Chris Kluwe vs The Chair starts at 4:30 p.m. Friday at the Brave New Workshop in Uptown (824 Hennepin Ave.)
