Burglary suspect said she needed change to buy soda

A Mesa woman has been arrested, accused of breaking into cars "to find change for a soda."

Police spotted Amy Evers acting suspicious near a van in a parking lot near Horne and Brown Road.

Officers asked Evers what she was doing and Evers stated she was just closing the van doors.

Evers was searched, and she had drug paraphernalia and 2 identification cards on her person. Still, she said she just entered the vehicle to get 75 cents for a soda.

Evers is being held on suspicion of burglary.
