MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -
Kevin Love suffered a fracture in his hand while working out Wednesday morning -- an injury the Minnesota Timberwolves say will keep the All-Star forward out six to eight weeks.
The injury also means the Timberwolves will start the season without both Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love.
The Wolves said Love fractured his third and fourth metacarpal in his right hand He will be examined by Dr. Andy Weiland, a hand specialist at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York, on Thursday for further evaluation.
The team said more information will be available when warranted.
Los Angeles Clippers forward Caron Butler played with a broken hand in last season's NBA playoffs. But that case had two significant differences: Butler broke his non-shooting hand, and his injury came in the postseason, not the preseason.
