A judge denied bond to a Union Grove High School student accused of sexually assaulting a classmate. Deputies say 16-year-old Eric Jones dragged the female victim into a locker room after school. The 16-year-old victim's mother says she saw school surveillance video footage of her daughter fighting her attacker in a hallway before and after the assault."She was like ‘no, no,' pushing him. He's grabbing her violently," said the mother. Although there are numerous cameras around the school, deputies say there is no camera inside the locker room where the assault took place."He grabs her by her feet. She's lifted and eventually she can't hold on anymore so she drops. And he then drags her into the locker room," said the mother. Deputies charged Jones, who is 16, as an adult. He faces counts of aggravated sexual battery, kidnapping, false imprisonment and enticing a minor for indecent purposes. "She felt helpless and she just fought him….He grabbed both of her hands with one hand and use the other hand to grab all over her," the mother said. The victim's mother says her daughter loves school, but has been having nightmares ever since the attack. She wonders if Union Grove has enough supervision during after school hours."No school officials. The school hallways were empty. There was absolutely no one around and what ultimately saved my daughter was a student that came by and heard all the commotion," she said. The Henry County School District released a statement saying the assault is isolated and it takes the safety of its students very seriously.
Jones' case was bound over to Superior Court, where he is charged as an adult.
