A suspected drunk driver was arrested after hitting six pedestrians near the University of Minnesota campus Sunday afternoon.

According to the Minneapolis police report, the group was crossing the intersection of Washington Avenue and Oak Street SE around 3 p.m. Sunday when they were hit by a car. The police report identified the victims as:

  • Kevin Duffy, 58, of Burnsville
  • Michael Duffy, 20, of Burnsville
  • Abigail Reynolds, 19, of Hopkins
  • Kathryn Jensen, 19, of Bemidji
  • Tucker Hjermstad, 19, of Edina
  • Hana Felix, 18, of Bemidji

The Minnesota Daily reports U of M student Michael Duffy, his girlfriend (Reynolds, also a U of M student), and Duffy's father, Kevin, were having lunch at the nearby Big Ten restaurant before crossing the street.

The driver who hit the group, identified as 32-year-old Kristine Peterson of St. Francis, Minn., was arrested on suspicion of DWI.

Three of the victims were taken by ambulance to Hennepin County Medical Center. Kevin Duffy was the only one still in the hospital Monday, where he is listed in satisfactory condition.

Peterson, who told police she didn't see the group in the intersection, has since been released from jail and is expected to return to court at the end of next month.
