HIGHLAND PARK, Mich. -- Thursday night, Highland Park Police were busy as the yellow tape we all hate to see surrounded a shooting. This time it was at a Family Dollar store on Woodward and Manchester.
Police explained how they believe the situation all got started, and if it is so, it is silly and stupid.
It appears to have all been started over some street drama, a beef, between some young men. Two guys were at the store, then another came up wearing a mask. He was carrying a gun and pulled it on them. He shot, but missed them. He did hit the glass and worse, an innocent woman that had nothing at all to do with any of this nonsense.
"She was crying because her mother was with her and her mother had a little bitty baby and her mother said that she almost got hit, too," a man said.
She was shot in the backside and rushed to the hospital. We're told the intended targets ran off at first, but ended up talking to the police.
The suspect didn't stick around. He hit the pavement, but that won't stop the police.
"It was a bunch of people. I'm surprised that's all that got shot," the man said.
So clearly the cops have not caught up with the suspect yet, but they are looking for him.
As for the victim, she is recovering at a hospital. Her injuries are not life threatening.
