PHOENIX -

A 66-year-old man has been accused of sexually abusing a woman with dementia.

According to court documents, Jose Rosalas assaulted another resident at his group home, a 70-year-old vulnerable adult, Wednesday evening at Suncrest Healthcare in Phoenix.

The victim has reduced mental capacity and muscle weakness and was unable to defend herself, police said.

Court documents allege Rosalas kissed the victim on the face and attempted to touch her groin area. Two witnesses reported this to police.

Rosalas told detectives he is sexually attracted to the victim because "she is mentally and physically disabled. The report states, "he admitted that when the victim attempted to move or push him away he was aroused and continued attempting to sexually touch her."

Rosalas is facing charges of sexual abuse and aggravated assault -- because the victim was mentally incapable of giving consent and unable to resist due to her diminished ability.

Rosalas was booked into the 4th Ave Jail.
