PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say an illegal immigrant working for a construction company has been arrested for trying to enter the grounds of a nuclear power plant near Phoenix with fake identification.

Maricopa County Sheriff's officials say 40-year-old Nestor Martinez Ochoa is being held on suspicion of using false identification and criminal trespass onto a commercial nuclear generating station.

Sheriff's deputies were called Wednesday morning to the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station in Wintersburg, about 50 miles west of downtown Phoenix. Security personnel at the triple-reactor plant say Ochoa showed an Arizona driver's license that appeared to be fraudulent.

Deputies say Ochoa was interviewed at the scene and he allegedly admitted to using a fake ID and being in the country illegally.

Authorities now are investigating the construction company that hired Ochoa.
