MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -
The Minnesota Timberwolves on Tuesday announced the signing of free-agent Lou Amundson, a six-year NBA veteran who can play both forward and center.
Amundson add size and defensive grit to a Timberwolves team that gave up 100 points per game in 2011-12 – the sixth most in the NBA.
"Lou is an active defender and rebounder who will give us plenty of hustle and energy when he is on the floor," said David Kahn, Timberwolves President of Basketball Operations. "We feel Lou is a good complement to our existing roster."
Amundson, 29, spent last season with the Indiana Pacers, averaging 3.5 points and 3.7 rebounds in 60 games. His best season came in 2009-10 with the Phoenix Suns when he finished with averages of 4.7 points and 4.4 rebounds.
Amundson is an NBA D-League alum, beginning his professional career in 2006-07 with the Colorado 14ers, where he averaged 11.1 points and 7.6 rebounds in 25 games. He was named the NBA D-League Rookie of the Year and to the NBA D-League First Team.
