ANN ARBOR TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) -

Authorities say a woman whose compact car was struck and dragged by an oncoming train in Ann Arbor Township has been hospitalized.

Fire Capt. Doug Eder tells AnnArbor.com firefighters responding to the 6 a.m. Friday crash found the unidentified woman pinned inside her vehicle, which had been dragged from the intersection and into a ditch.

Elder says firefighters freed the woman, and transported her to a hospital. Her condition was not immediately known.

The crash closed Pontiac Trail between Warren and Dhu Varren roads for more than an hour as police investigated. The road was reopened about 7:30 a.m.

Eder says the location is a train switching area. The railroad crossing has no gate, but does have a signal.

No further details were released.
