DETROIT (MyFox Detroit) -

Four firefighters were injured Thursday when a house exploded while they were putting out a fire on Lamont Street near McNichols and the Davison on Detroit's east side.

We're told one firefighter was at the front of the house with a hose.  He suffered the brunt of the blast.  Two other firefighters were in the back.  It's unclear where the fourth firefighter was located.

It's still too early to know the extent of their injuries

"The fire department, they got here... real quick and three of them went inside.  There was one on the outside.  Then the house just exploded," said Brian Dunn.  "House just collapsed on the three firemen and the other fireman got knocked in the street, and then the rest of the firemen (rushed) in there and went to help the other guys and then they took them away in an ambulance."

A worker was in the house at the time of the initial fire.  He got out safely.
