MINNEAPOLIS (KMSP) -
Gophers freshman wide receiver Andre McDonald is undergoing tests at an area hospital, a University of Minnesota athletics department spokesman confirmed Thursday.
The Minnesota Daily spoke to McDonald by phone, who said he had "a little problem with [his] heart."
A leg infection kept the 18-year-old McDonald out of the team's second game of the season against New Hampshire after finishing the opener at UNLV with one catch. He suffered a turf burn on his leg during that game, which led to the infection.
McDonald was practicing with the Gophers leading up to last Saturday's win over Western Michigan, but did not play. He was also practicing up until Tuesday this week.
McDonald came to the Gophers from Hopkins High School, where he was the No. 1 football prospect in the state of Minnesota.
