DETROIT (MyFox Detroit) -

19-year-old Tamika Brooks, the mother of a three-year-old daughter, was shot and killed early Wednesday while sitting with her boyfriend in a Ford Contour. It happened on Oakfield near McNichols in Detroit.

Brooks' boyfriend, 21-year-old Julian Bogan, ran from the car. Police say the gunman chased the boyfriend and shot him in the face. That boyfriend is in critical condition. The shooter then set the car on fire. That car burned with Brooks' body inside.

Police are looking for the shooter and trying to determine why this couple was shot.

Brooks' family says she was an innocent victim.

"I want to know who killed my daughter, that's all I want to know. Find out who killed my daughter, who did that horrible thing to my daughter," said Martin Brooks, her father.

"They did not have to do her like that," said mother Renee Brooks.

If you have information on this crime, call Detroit Police.
