
Four of the five people riding in a pickup truck were killed in a crash with a semi Tuesday evening in the Pine County town of Askov, Minn.
According to the Pine County sheriff's office, the crash happened around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Rutabaga Road and Clark Road. The preliminary investigation indicates the pickup truck was making a left turn onto Clark Road in front of the oncoming semi.
Three people were pronounced dead at the scene:
Felicity Jensen, 17
Brett Larson, 21
Arden Edwards, 58
The two others in the pickup – a 21-year-old man and 20-year-old woman – were seriously injured and later airlifted to hospitals. The 20-year-old woman, identified as Catherine Peterson, later died of her injuries.
The 50-year-old driver of the semi was not injured.
Chief Deputy Steven Blackwell said some of the victims are family and some are boyfriends or girlfriends. At least three of the victims were in the cab of the pickup and one or two people were riding in the bed.
The accident remains under investigation by the Pine County sheriff and the Minnesota State Patrol.
