ROCKFORD TOWNSHIP, Minn. (KMSP) -

The driver of a garbage truck was extricated and airlifted to Mercy Hospital after his truck collided with an eastbound Canadian Pacific Railway freight train Tuesday morning in Rockford Township, Minn.

The driver, 41-year-old Sean Michael Conway, was transported by Life Link Air Ambulance, but officials say his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening.

The truck, which is owned by Veolia Environmental Services, was heading west on Highway 55 when Conway attempted to turn left onto 5th Street Southeast, where the track angles to the southeast.

The Wright County Sheriff's Office confirmed no control arm or lights are installed at the intersection.

The accident remains under investigation.
