What a weekend for Minnesota sports fans!
The Lynx, defending WNBA champions, won a pair of games. The Gopher football team defeated New Hampshire in a rout on Saturday to start 2-0, and the Vikings defeated Jacksonville in overtime. Heck, even the Twins won in dramatic fashion on Sunday with a walk-off home run from Justin Morneau.
While we bask in the glory of a winning start, our neighbors to the east aren't feeling nearly as good about life as they start their week. For the first time since October of 2008, Minnesota football teams went 2-0 while Wisconsin lost both their games. Excuse us as we revel in the moment.
The gloating traveled westward this week after the Packers went south when their vaunted offense seemed to be offensively bad on the same day that the Vikings found a win thanks to the nimble feet of the recently-repaired Adrian Peterson and rookie Blair Walsh.
Add to that a Badger loss at Oregon State and a Gopher win, and that's two straight Minnesota wins to Wisconsin losses. The pair of wins from the Twins and the Lynx put the state over the top, and that has many fans feeling proud.
