SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KMSP) -
A Minnesota man who appeared to win the Sioux Falls Marathon was disqualified for running the wrong course.
The Argus Leader reports 37-year-old Olok Nykew of St. Paul, Minn. registered for the full marathon, but only ran the half-marathon. That would explain how Nykew broke the race record by 25 minutes.
The marathon and half-marathon followed separate courses, with some overlapping routes through the streets of Sioux Falls, ending at the same finish line.
Nykew says it was an honest mistake and he wasn't trying to cheat.
