BYRON, Minn. (KMSP) -
A 17-year-old girl was killed after crashing her van into the back of a school bus that was stopped and dropping off a student Tuesday afternoon in Byron, Minn.
The Olmsted County sheriff's office says the crash happened around 3:40 p.m. at 6732 County Road 5 NW.
Responding deputies found 17-year-old Deianerah Logan trapped in her van under the bus. Logan was taken to St. Mary's Hospital, but died from her injuries.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Logan family," Byron superintendent Jeff Elstad told FOX 9. "We are continuing to provide grief support for our staff and students."
Two students, ages 7 and 11, were on the bus at the time of the crash. The 7-year-old was exiting the bus at the time of the crash, and was knocked down by the impact, but neither student was injured.
The bus involved in the crash is owned by the Byron School District.
