Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak is making the trip down to Charlotte, N.C., for the Democratic National Convention this week, and he's defending the president along the way.
On Monday morning, Rybak appeared on "Fox and Friends" to explain why he feels the country is in better shape than it was four years ago.
"Day one, they said to this president, 'Mister President, the economy is about to collapse. Mr. President, the core of our manufacturing auto industry is bout to collapse. He got to work," Rybak said.
Rybak also pointed out that President Barack Obama supported the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, signing it on his first day in office.
"First thing he did was, he said to women, 'You deserve equal pay for equal work,'" Rybak said.
He also said Obama made it easier to obtain college loans and created a bureau for consumer protection. Rybak will speak at the DNC on Tuesday.
