Rosenfels, Hilliard among Vikings cuts

Posted: Updated:

The Minnesota Vikings trimmed their roster to the 53 man limit today and in the process cut ties with veteran quarterback Sage Rosenfels. Rosenfels re-signed with the team in March to a two-year $3 million deal. Rosenfels is guaranteed $500,000 of the $1.45 million base salary for 2012.

Matt Asiata did enough in the preseason to hurdle Lex Hilliard for the number three running back spot. Both Hilliard and Jordan Todman were released. Todman was injured for the majority of the preseason and despite playing well in the game against Houston didn't do enough to make the squad.
