Cubs get Anthony Recker from A's for Blake Lalli

Posted: Updated:

CHICAGO (AP) - The Chicago Cubs have acquired catcher Anthony Recker from the Oakland Athletics in exchange for catcher and first baseman Blake Lalli.

Recker was a member of Oakland's opening day roster but was sent to AAA Sacramento after hitting .129 in 31 at-bats over 13 games. Recker has hit .146 in 18 big league games overall, while he's put up a .273 average with 98 homers in eight seasons in the minors.

The Cubs assigned Recker to AAA Iowa.

Lalli made his major league debut for Chicago earlier this season, his seventh in professional baseball. He went 2 for 15 in six games for the Cubs before being sent down to Iowa.

The Cubs also designated left-hander Scott Maine for assignment.
